The holidays are almost here, and we wanted to share our favorite new decor trends that don’t lose the classic holiday nostalgia we all love! Every year we have a new chance to brighten up St. Louis with holiday cheer, and we’re excited to share the best holiday decoration trends and themes this holiday season. 1. Want Christmas Lights? Try Some New Colorways!
Picking “lights” as a favorite holiday decor trend feels like cheating because they’re simply timeless. What’s a house without lights when Christmas rolls around? We all need a little light to cheer us up in the darkest months! But we did notice that the types of lights people are gravitating towards this year might be a little different than what you typically see over the holidays in St. Louis.
We’ve seen that “...people are leaning away from muted grays and beiges and moving towards bolder colors and patterns that are typically not associated with Christmas, such as pinks, teals, and oranges.”
Moody, deeper tones and pastels provide a pretty unique version of classic red and greens! You can still light up your house in a way that screams “festive” without being overt.

2. Castlecore (Don’t worry—we’ll explain)
Have you heard of Gnomecore? Cottagecore? Essentially, niche style trends are being described as some kind of “core,” and all the kids are talking about it.
While we don’t totally understand it either, we are very interested in Castlecore as a holiday trend this season. This design aesthetic blends fantasy elements with chic decor in an over-the-top, ornate, glittery, and downright decadent way. Think Beauty and the Beast meets Downton Abbey with a sprinkle of Frozen.

3. Go Big with Your Home
Go big this year with your home holiday decorations, St. Louis! We love this trend because it is unabashedly festive and just so much fun. Make your holiday decorations take center stage this year by creating a larger-than-life display.
Tie giant bows to your banisters, hang unreasonably large jingle bells on the porch, and make sure you get lost in a forest-sized tree. Oversized decor is going to be a hit this year.

4. Bows are Back, Baby
Did they ever leave? This holiday decoration trend fits nicely with the “go big” trend we’ve been seeing. Bows are a holiday decor staple in many households, so really let them shine this year. You can tie them around your mailbox, cover your trees (indoor and out!) in them, or put them over your fireplace (safety first, folks).

5. Trees… everywhere
Who wants a tree when they can have a forest? Live it up this year, St. Louis! We’re seeing trees in the kitchen, the living room, the parlor, the porch, the guestroom, and even the bathroom! Well, maybe not the bathroom, but wouldn’t that be a fun way to make potpourri more festive?
